Cast Partial Dentures

Cast partial dentures utilize secure cast metal clips that slide over your existing teeth to easily and securely fill gaps. Created from cobalt with chrome, each denture is unique and impervious to cracks.

  • Patients with partial edentulism and sufficient remaining teeth for support

  • Cases requiring a strong and stable prosthesis with metal framework

  • Long-term tooth replacement with high durability and retention

  • Situations where precision attachments or rests are needed for support

  • Patients desiring improved function over flexible or acrylic partials

  • Patients with insufficient abutment teeth or compromised periodontal support

  • Individuals with metal allergies (consider alternative materials like Valplast)

  • Extremely resorbed ridges where framework may lack retention

  • Uncooperative patients or those unable to maintain hygiene around clasps

  • High esthetic demands in the anterior (visible clasps may be an issue)

  • Accurate full-arch impressions capturing all anatomical landmarks

  • Proper surveying of diagnostic casts to determine path of insertion and clasp design

  • Teeth may require minor preparation for rest seats and guide planes

  • Ensure stable and well-aligned occlusion prior to final framework design

  • Shade selection for replacement teeth and tissue-colored acrylic

Cast partial dentures are removable appliances and do not involve cementation.

  • Frameworks are usually made from cobalt-chrome alloy for strength and biocompatibility

  • Rests, major connectors, and clasps are designed based on undercut analysis and tooth position

  • Acrylic is processed onto the metal framework to support prosthetic teeth

  • Adjustments should be made carefully to avoid stressing the metal framework

  • Periodic checkups recommended to monitor fit, wear, and tissue response
